I hate to admit this but I was so excited about decorating the porch for Christmas that the Thanksgiving decor here came down the day before Thanksgiving. Every year I try to include this old sled that I got in a junk heap, but also included a few new projects. I've shown you how I made this Pottery Barn inspired wreath here and the link for the sign is up above so today I'm going to show you how I made the tree. This tree was inspired by the tomato cage project I spied on pinterest. Since I didn't have a tomato cage {and wasn't really sure what one was} I decided to use this decorative garden thing I had above my kitchen cabinets. You could use this same process with a tomato cage {I wouldn't recommend a dog cage ;)}
Take a garland of Christmas greens and starting at the top, wind your way down.
Fluff out all of the greens and string with lights. For the base I found a white planter on clearance at Meijers. I really wanted something black so I spray painted it with some chalkboard paint I had on hand. (I didn't want a glossy finish so this turned out perfectly). Fill your planter with rocks for some added weight.

Put your tree frame into your planter. I had to work with mine as the frame was slightly larger than the planter. This gave me some resistance as I had to bend the legs in slightly to get it to fit, but now its not going anywhere!
For His glory!
