We added a second bathroom to our home a few years ago. We have a tri-level home and when my husband and I moved in we had no kids and were in the midst of years of infertility. At the time our home was a two-bedroom, 1 bath home. Fast forward to today. We now have four kids and have maxed out our space by adding two bedrooms and the second bathroom. Our lower level is the boys suite. This space consists of two bedrooms {for 3 boys} and their bathroom.Like I said, we redid this space a few years ago and have made some tweaks since then. Its a hard space to photograph as there is no natural light so bear with me!
The room was a storage room before but plumbed for the second bath when we bought the house. My husband installed the drywall but we hired a plumber to do the tub, toilet and sinks. We probably spent a total of $3,500. including the drywall and accessories. In order to do this we had to stick with the basics and be a little creative.
We found the sink top and base at a discount home improvement store and spent about $150 on these. We used linolium off the roll {not my fave but its held up well and still looks as good as new}. My hubby installed sheets of bead board paneling {the sheets saved a bundle} and we used extra molding we had from another project. Our only splurge for this space was the heater mounted in the wall to keep the space warm in the winter {since this is a lower level bath}.
I am sure that we will continue to make changes as time goes on, but for now its great to just have a space that the boys can call their own. {You ought to be thankful you can't smell this boys space!} :)
